Last Day of Term 3!

This has been a very long term - ten solid weeks without a public holiday celebrating a sport event or a monarch's birthday or unions.  Even though spring officially started two weeks ago, it continued to rain every day this past week until today, when the sun finally appeared.

It's been a busy term. My kids have made appearances at music soirees, celebration nights, baseball games and trainings. I have bought new shin guards and mouth guards for hockey, new swim trunks and goggles for swimming, and a new guitar after the first one broke. Joel has studied and studied for exams, traveling to Sydney multiple times for review courses and for the exams.  We have built a house that is almost done.  We are worn out.

The teachers at my school are exhausted, the students are exhausted.  Today at our house meeting, the captains planned a cake-decorating contest.  My Year 9 advsiory group made this:

None of my students even had the energy to eat it, so I brought it to the staff room, where the teachers shared it out.  The lab tech brought down bags and bags of lollies left over from our trivia night.  "Eat them, or they're getting thrown out," she said. . We ate the lollies.  We needed the sugar to get through the rest of the day.

Joel tried to help out today by driving the kids to school.  Unfortunately, he forgot to make sure they had their lunchboxes.  I made an emergency drive to their school during my prep time.

But spring is coming - the signs are everywhere.

Stay tuned for holiday highlights. . . .
